About the Item

These gorgeous matched 10.75" handmade alpaca pitchers were crafted in Mexico and feature traditional all-over decoration in the form of inlaid rows of abalone tiles. The pitchers have 4" diameter platform-style feet topped with cylindrical bodies that flare out from the bases to form 3.75" diameter mouths. The pieces bear wide angular strap form handles with abalone inlay on the top. Each handle dives down toward the side and curves out at the base. The lower portions of the handles are equipped with supports that are attached to the bodies of the pitchers. The undersides are both stamped Hecho En Mexico. These striking Mexican inlaid abalone pitchers mesh well with many types of decor and are ideally suited for placement on a mantel or sideboard. A lovely set whether displayed on their own or filled with flowers.

Riessner & Kessel Amphora Turn Teplitz Two-Handled Vase with Iridized Glaze
By Reissner Stellmacher & Kessel
Located in Cincinnati, OH
This striking amphora Art Nouveau vase was made in the Turn-Teplitz region of Bohemia by Riessner, Stellmacher & Kessel, established in 1892. The vase has an ovoid form with a thick molded floral and foliate band located at the neck. The body of the vase rests upon a raised pedestal foot decorated with a series of intertwined stylized roots. The neck and foot have been glazed in a matte green color with burnished gold highlights. The body of the vase is flanked by a pair of arched gilded handles made in the form of naturalistic woody branches. The body of the vase has been finished in a mottled matte glaze executed in a dull gold color enabling the cream color beneath to show through. The center of the vase transitions to a violet hue which is covered by a high glaze iridescent band having pink and purple undertones. The iridescent band features an armorial crest executed in black accented with gilded details. The crest itself consists of a checkerboard shield surmounted by a trio of stylized flowers with a spade motif, all of which are flanked by lions rampant. The design includes a series of large dots arrayed in a symmetrical manner. The opposite side of the vase echoes the motif found on the front and has a checkerboard shield, nine spade-shaped flowers and several dots. The vase is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. As an antique item, the piece shows minor signs of age and use consisting of wear to the gilded decoration. The vase stands 11.75" tall and is 2.25" across the mouth. The foot is just over 5" in diameter and bears impressed marks including a circular ''Imperial Amphora Turn...

Antique Rookwood Pottery Hand Painted Vessel Gorham Engraved Silver Decoration
By Gorham, Rookwood Pottery Co.
Located in Cincinnati, OH
This late 19th century glazed earthenware mug was crafted in the studios of Cincinnati Ohio's renowned Rookwood Pottery Company and has a traditional form with an ear-shaped handle having a thumb rest. The exterior of the piece is finished in standard glaze and features hand painted decoration executed by highly regarded artist William Purcell McDonald (1864-1931). The decor has an appealing wine harvest theme consisting of grape vines that snake across the surface. The vines are studded with leaves in various shades of green along with two dangling clusters of plump reddish grapes. McDonald's application of paint is slightly raised in places giving the image a dimensional quality. The mug is further ornamented with an ornate silver overlay manufactured by Gorham. The silver decoration covers the handle and rim and includes a series of large etched foliate scrolls and flowers that extend across the body. There is also an eye-catching latticed area that provides a strong visual contrast with the gentle curving motifs found on the other parts of the silver overlay. The underside of the mug has an impressed RP mark along with shape 422 and the letter W. It also carries the incised initials of the artist - W. P. McD - and the letter L. The underside of the silver foot rim is stamped Gorham Manufacturing Co. along with a hand engraved mark reading S 1274 S. This highly collectible Rookwood silver...
