Antique French Majolica Platter by Orchies, c. 1890's
About the Item
Vibrantly colored French majolica asparagus and artichoke platter made in the Orchies factory in the late 1800's. The tray has a scalloped rim , a turquoise background with artichoke flowers and fall colored leaves. The depressed sauce wells on each end are artichokes. The center of the platter includes four purple tipped asparagus.
I purchased this in Southwest France, I can tell the set has been very well cared for. I also have matching dinner plates available.
The French earthenware Manufacture d'Orchies was created in 1879 by brothers Emile and Joseph L'Herminé Declercq in Orchies near the Belgian border with France.
