About the Item

Vintage sommerso glass decanter was designed by Bo Bergstrom for Aseda Glasbruk, Sweden, in 1960s. Ruby red glass is encased in clear glass in sommerso technique, showcasing the complex organic shape of the piece; the stopper is done in clear glass, contrasting the richly colored body of the decanter and balancing the clear glass base of the piece. The decanter is in good vintage condition with some age-appropriate signs of wear on the bottom; it is unsigned, but can be easily identified using various printed and online sources. The design is listed in Aseda catalogue as 999/1, and is shown in "Scandinavian Glass - Fire & Sea" by Leslie Pina. Bo Borgstrom, one of the renowned Swedish glass designers, was the artistic leader for the Aseda in the 1960s-70s. Borgstrom is represented at numerous museums in Sweden. Aseda Glasbruk was founded in Sweden in 1947 and became part of the Royal Krona Group in 1975.
