George III Naturalistic Cream Pail Made in London by Thomas Pitts I, 1771
About the Item
An unusual George III Naturalistic Cream Pail made in London in 1771 by Thomas Pitts I.
This unusual piece stands on a circular foot, pierced with scrolls and roundels and displays a corded edge. The baluster, vase shaped, main body has a wavy gadrooned rim and is chased with swirling bands in addition to foliate sprigs and flower heads, a most unusual design. The front of the main body displays a Rococo cartouche engraved with script initials and an arched handle, decorated with a floral spray.
