George IV Milk Jug Made in London in 1822 by Paul Storr

About the Item

A very fine George IV Milk Jug made in London in 1822 by Paul Storr. The Jug is of a large size and stands on a circular foot decorated with a raised border of entwined bands containing roundels. The baluster shaped main body is decorated with a wide lobed band, below a frieze of Tudor roses and double blue bell motifs. The sides rise to an everted rim decorated with gadrooning interspersed with Rococo shells flanked by acanthus leaves. The scroll handle is decorated with two different sizes of leaf capping and vertical linear designs. The interior is finely gilded and this piece displays a very crisp set of hallmarks in the foot. Additional information: Length, spout to handle: 6.45 inches, 16.13cm. Width: 4.45 inches, 11.13cm. Height, to the top of the handle: 4 inches, 10cm.
