George III Milk Jug Made in London by Paul Storr in 1810
About the Item
A very fine George III Milk Jug made in London in 1810 by Paul Storr.
The Jug stands on a circular spreading foot decorated with lobing. The main body is modelled in a large baluster form and is also decorated with lobing. The neck displays a gadrooned band and rises to a rim decorated with egg and dart pattern. The handle is modelled as entwined serpents, with textured surface to simulate the skin. The interior is palely gilded and the front is engraved with a contemporary Crest below the Coronet of an Earl. The Jug is in quite excellent condition and is fully marked in the foot, in addition to Storr's pattern number, 169. This was a design made in the Storr workshops and displays many of the characteristics of his production.
