Pair of Edwardian Antique Silver Serving Dishes and Covers

About the Item

A pair of antique silver game serving dishes and covers. These are quite rare and of a useable size for serving not only game, but also chickens, small roasts and any number of vegetable recipes. The domed covers and bases are hand raised and the stylish handles and detachable finials are made from walnut wood. Weight 3200 g (103 troy ozs).

A spectacular set of three silver trophy cups in the George III style, one larger and a pair of smaller. Each has a removable lid with hand-chased acanthus leaf detail, a decoration which is also found round the bodies, and cast finial. The handles are realistically cast as sinuously entwined snakes, the heads of which are holding rings that appear to be supporting hand-chased drapes that hang round the body of each cup. A magnificent, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver serving dish with cover made by Robert Garrard II; an addition to dining silverware collection This magnificent antique Victorian sterling silver dish has a rounded hexagonal form. The body of the serving dish is plain and embellished with a contemporary bright cut engraved crest of on a cap of maintenance turned up a lion passant*. The plain body is encompassed with a cast and applied rosette border to the rim, accented with a leaf decorated corner pieces. The dish is fitted with an impressive domed hexagonal cover, embellished with chased interlacing foliate and trellis designs, all on a matte background to the rounded sides.
