Pair of George III Double Bladed Servers Made in Dublin, 1805
About the Item
An extremely rare pair of George III Double Bladed Servers made in Dublin in 1805, maker's mark of I.C
These very rare Servers are modelled in the Fiddle and Thread pattern which is double struck. They unusually have a solid blade on the upper section and a fork below with five tines. The top of the stem is engraved with a contemporary Crest and Motto, these being as used by the Boycott family, the main branch of the family being in County Shropshire. The Servers are of a design which we have not encountered before, and are especially rare coming from Ireland. They are of a very good gauge and weight and are in excellent condition. Both sections display a crisp set of marks.
