A magnificent, fine and impressive set of six antique George III English sterling silver meat skewers or letter openers made by Paul Storr, an addition to our diverse flatware collection. These magnificent antique George IV English sterling silver meat skewers or letter openers has a plain tapered form. This exceptional set is comprised of three pairs of meat skewers, each pair graduating in size. Each skewer is ornamented with the contemporary bright cut engraved crest below a baron's coronet. The terminal of each skewer is embellished with a chased decorated shell design below a reed decorated circular ring loop finger piece. Sets of six graduated antique silver skewers are difficult to locate, especially those by the renowned and important London silversmith Paul Storr. An exceptional, fine and impressive, antique Italian silver meat / fish platter; an addition to our presentation silverware collection. This magnificent antique Italian silver platter has an oval form. The surface of this antique platter is plain and unembellished, accented with a plain applied molded border to the rim. Condition This antique Italian silver platter is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. There are some surface knife scratches to the well of the platter, in keeping with the age and purpose. The hallmarks struck to the underside of the platter's rim are all very clear. Dimensions Length 46.2cm/18.2" Width 30.4cm/12" Length inside 36.5cm/14.4" Width inside 20.7cm/8.1" Height 3.3cm/1.3". Weight 46.7 troy ounces/1452g. Maker: Untraced Maker's Marks. Date: circa 1820. This rare and exceptional William IV bowl is the work of preeminent Georgian silversmith Paul Storr. Crafted of luxurious gilt silver, the bowl exhibits all the hallmarks of Storr’s celebrated style, from the textured panels and applied decorations to the ruffled scallop shells and acanthus adorning its matching, fitted underplate. Paul Storr was a master at redefining and perfecting Georgian, Regency and William IV silver. His works have remained the most desirable with collectors for generations, and many have been given as prizes in refined competitions. Elegant and sumptuous, this bowl was later awarded as First Prize in a backgammon tournament in 1972. Paul Storr was a master at redefining and perfecting Georgian, Regency and William IV silver.
