Direct from Paris, a magnificent antique 19th century French covered sterling silver vegetable server and accompanying serving platter by the world’s Premier French silversmith “Puiforcat”, currently owned by Hermes, in near new condition, circa 1890s. The art of silversmithing has long been a hallmark of French craftsmanship, embodying a tradition of luxury, precision, and timeless elegance. Among the most revered names in this field is Puiforcat, a silversmith that has become synonymous with exceptional quality and artistry. Founded in the early 19th century, Puiforcat has established itself as a leader in the creation of sterling silverware, including their renowned vegetable servers and serving platters. The story of Puiforcat begins in 1820 when Jean-Baptiste Fuchs established a silversmith workshop in Paris. The Fuchs family, originally from Germany, brought with them a rich tradition of metalworking. In 1832, Jean-Baptiste's son, Emile Fuchs, took over the business and married into the Puiforcat family, a name that would later become iconic in the world of silverware.
