A rare set of 3 English gilt and paint decorated papier mâché scallop form trays with foliate and bird decoration on a black field, the central floral bouquets flanked by exotic birds. It is unusual to find complete sets of graduated trays of this quality in good condition, circa 1850.

    Refinished. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. SIzes: Largest: 31.25 inches by 23.25 inches; Middle: 25.25 inches by 18.5 inches; Smallest: 19.25 inches by 14.25 inches. Images of each tray are numbers 3, 4 and 5 in the photos starting with the largest. Quite nice condition with minor flaws.
