About the Item

A rare small French palissy majolica comport with cabbage leaf signed Emile Gambut and dated 1879. The base is composed with branches. Famous French ceramist , with ceramics at the Met NY. Based in his family workshop in Beaune, Emile Gambut created works inspired by the rediscovery of the works of sixteenth-century potter Bernard Palissy (1510-ca. 1589).
