Whieldon-type Large Creamware Tortoiseshell Platter,
Circa 1765-75
The large Staffordshire creamware tortoiseshell-glazed platter, of Whieldon-type, is of a large oval silver shape with shaped wavy rim, splashed and sprinkled in manganese brown heightened in scattered green and yellow underglaze-oxides to create a tortoiseshell design. The reverse completely covered with a brown tortoiseshell design too.
Dimensions: 16 1/3 inches wide x 13 1/4 inches deep x 1 3/5 inches high.
