19th Century George Jones Four-Part Majolica Porcelain Serving Bowl with Daisies

About the Item

An English Victorian period brown, green and turquoise four-part Majolica porcelain serving bowl from the late 19th century stamped George Jones. Created in England during the 19th century, this Majolica porcelain bowl is made of four parts connected to one another by a looping handle. The body is accented with delicate daisies recognizable by their charming white and yellow color. The handle flows seamlessly to surround the petite side bowls while the ensemble is raised on four feet imitating the shape of branches with intertwining foliage. Majolica produced by George Jones rivals that of Minton and Wedgwood in both design and workmanship. George Jones won a medal at the Paris Exhibition in 1867 and received acclaim at exhibitions in London (1871), Vienna (1873) and Sydney (1876). The bowl showcases its English diamond registration on the underside. With its sinuous silhouette and lovely colors, this 19th century English George Jones majolica porcelain serving bowl will be a nice decorative accent in any home, particularly in a dining room or kitchen.
