Antique 19th Century Samson Porcelain & Ormolu Mounted Vases With Cover c.1870

About the Item

Antique 19th Century French Samson porcelain lidded vases feature intricate ormolu bronze mounts gracing both base and lid. The lids are crowned with cherub-shaped finials, adorned with delicate floral patterns cascading down to the base. Each vase showcases hand-painted coastal scenes depicting European and foreign traders, encircled by elaborate ribbon and floral borders. The elegantly bulging body of the vases is complemented by twin rectangular elongated handles with gilt detailing. Originating from a renowned French porcelain factory founded by Edmé Samson in Paris in 1845, these vases are distinguished for their high-quality reproductions of various porcelain styles, including Meissen, Chantilly, Chelsea, Derby, and Chinese porcelain.
