Coalport "Milk Jug" in the style of George Davis, c. 1815
About the Item
Decorated in the style of George Davis, with his characteristic 'Fancy Birds' in vibrant colors in a landscape, though not necessarily by him. The panels are reserved by gilt borders of rococo scroll design, with a dark cobalt blue ground providing a contrasting frame to the paintings.
Unmarked, but the body and the form are of the Anstice, Horton, & Rose or the John Rose & Co. Coalport factories, during the 1810-1815 period.
