Mid-Century French Hand Painted Porcelain Plates from Paris, Set of 12

About the Item

Decorate a vaisselier or a shelf with this colorful set of antique plates. Crafted in Paris circa 1970 by F. D. Chauvigny, each porcelain plate is hand painted and depicts a "Metier du Vieux Paris" (or old Parisian profession in English). They are: "Le Chiffonier", "La Marchande de Noix", "le Porteur d'Eau", "La Marchande de Poires Cuites", "Le Marchand de Seaux Ferres", and "Le Marchand de Sebile". The 12 plates are in excellent condition and adorn rich colors. 7.25" Diameter.

    This round and colorful antique planter was created in “Faïencerie de Gien," France, circa 1890. The large porcelain flower pot has intertwined snake handles, and features traditional Greek style motifs throughout. The sculptural, ceramic vase is decorated with hand painted traditional allegory motifs, including the Horn of plenty and lambrequin mantling decor. The elegant porcelain piece is in excellent condition with rich painted colors in the blue, white and yellow palette inside and out. Stamped Gien France underfoot for further authentication. The Faïencerie de Gien is a ceramic factory in the Loire Valley, founded in 1821 by Thomas Edme Hulm.
