Set of 4 Löja Earthenware Plates by Stig Lindberg

About the Item

Swedish designer, ceramist, illustrator and painter Stig Lindberg (1916 - 1982) was one of his country's most famous artists from the late 1930s to the 1970s, the "Golden Age" of Scandinavian design. In 1937 he graduated from Stockholm's University College of Art, Crafts & Design, now known as Konstfack. Shortly thereafter, he joined Gustavbergs Ceramics Factory near Stockholm as a faience painter under the tutelage of then-creative director Wilhelm Kåge. The two masters of applied arts worked closely together until Kåge retired in 1949 and Lindberg followed in his footsteps. In the fifties and sixties, Lindberg did very profitable work for Gustavsberg and its collections in earthenware, faience and porcelain.
