Set of 6 Mocha Cups w. Saucers Cobalt Blue Gold Painted Art Nouveau Secessionist

About the Item

This set is made of fine white porcelain, and each cup and saucer is decorated with a unique secessionist pattern which reminds on designs by Joseph Maria Olbrich. The pattern feature stylized floral and geometric designs in cartouches on a cobalt blue ground and garlands in gold. The interior and the handle are also richly gilt. The set is likely of German or Austrian origin, and dates to the late 19th century around 1890.-. Secessionism was an art movement that was popular in Europe at the time, and is characterized by its stylized and decorative forms. The set is a fine example of secessionist design, and is a valuable and collectible item.
