Tan Dots Porcelain Large Tray by Lana Kova
About the Item
Large ceramic tray or serving platter. Hand-cast in porcelain and once bisque fired, each dot is hand-painted with a tan glaze. An unconventional layered glazing technique, developed by the artist, is used in these cast porcelain pieces. The straight walls and sleek geometric form of this plate adds a modern touch to any dining table.
There are more iterations of the cylindrical form, made by the artist, that come in different heights, widths as well as other colors which can make for lively and fun table setting when all paired together. The artist often plays with geometric forms of varying dimensions, as an homage to Bauhaus and minimalist principles concerned with the value of simple and useful shapes. The application of highly decorative patternation on such polished geometric forms is a theme that is active not only in the artist’s development of functional works, but also in their sculptural practice.
