About the Item
Rare antique Mason's Ashworth's Ironstone Chinoiserie pattern hand enameled and transfer decorated footed compote serving dish
England, 1862-1880
Vibrant, joyful colors of orange, mulberry, cobalt blue, green, yellow, pink and russet compose an artful paisley pattern border with floral elements, surrounding a central motif of Chinoiserie style Bird of Paradise perched on a twisted branch. The hand painted raised enameling gives this piece a distinctive hand crafted appearance. Marked by the enameler and numbered. This rare Ashworth pattern has an unusual Neo-Gothic border in cobalt blue surrounding the central mofit. Beautiful for display and for serving.
