About

Early Staffordshire bocage figure group of gardener and companion, circa 1825. The charming bocage figure group of male and female gardeners standing either side of a central bocage with the gentleman resting on his spade and holding a potted plant and the lady using a watering can while holding flowers in her apron. Down the centre a small stream, coloured blue, runs over the edge of the base between two moulded shell-shaped indents. The bocage with groups of five large leaves and blue central flowers and the base hollow. Dimensions: 7 1/4 inches high x 4 3/4 inches x 2 3/4 inches. Provenance: A Private New York collection, With Barbara Alpren Antiques (1990).
