About the Item

Mid-20th century Cumbow pottery pitcher, Abbington, VA. A rare example, this pitcher was made to commemorate the 1942 survival of Captain Eddie Rickenbacker on his secret mission with a letter from Eisenhower to MacArthur. It shows the plane, survivors on rafts and a bird clutching his hat (his trademark). Teal speckle with gold luster. Fully marked on the bottom. 4.75" over handle, 3" dia. body, 3.25" h.
