Mid-Century Modern hand-thrown studio art pottery bowl by Randy Webb features incised stylized and abstract birds and foliate motif, signed on base "Webb", mid-20th century Provenance: Deaccessioned from the Randy Webb Collection of the Call Museum of Hartsville, New York, 2017 Measures - 4.75" H x 7.25" OP @ Wx 4.25" BS *Full collection as photographed; pieces listed separately* BIOGRAPHY Randy was born in 1913 and died in 1997. He obtained his MFA, Master's of Fine Art, at Alfred University in 1937 and was Instructor of Industrial Design 1949-1951, and Instructor in Pottery 1951-1956. Randy was nationally known for his paintings and ceramics, named the nation's CERAMIC ARTIST OF THE YEAR IN 1949 BY NEWSWEEK MAGAZINE. His career was dedicated to art and the creation of the Hartsville Museum. Contemporaries include Ted Randall and Val Cushing and, before, Charles Fergus Binns, an English-born studio potter and the first director of the New York State School of Clayworking and Ceramics, currently the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University Catalogue Note: Ask about DISCOUNTED DELIVERY RATES available to most regions within 1,500 miles of New York.
