Wedgwood Stoneware Vase C. 1875

About the Item

A Fabulous Wedgwood Stoneware Vase, Circa 1875, England. Shaped as a Portland Vase (w/o handles). The stoneware body tinted blue, slip decorated and very finely gilded. From a series of similar tinted stoneware vases with gilt decoration make in this period. Very Rare indeed! The Rubin Collection: The Rubins spent over 60 years traveling the world, putting their collection together. Many peices have been exhibited in multiple museums across the country. Stamped "Wedgwood" to the underside as well as the Rubin Collection stamp. Ref: Harry Buten, "Wedgwood Rarities" Butten Museum of Wedgwood, Merion, 1969, p. 315 (a discussion of similar wares)
