About the Item

This fine antique Victorian sterling silver cream jug has a plain circular inverted bell shaped form, in the classic Georgian Irish style. The body of this Victorian cream jug is embellished with chased floral and scrolling foliate designs above a plain applied girdle. The lower portion of the body is embellished with further chased decoration depicting a swan and antique fish design amidst water reeds, in addition to a large rose design to the lower portion of the handle. The decoration to the body incorporates a scroll bordered cartouche to the underside of the rim and features the contemporary bright cut engraved initials 'EAJC' The jug is further ornamented with a shaped undulating upper rim. This impressive example of Victorian teaware is fitted with an opposing scroll handle with a leaf decorated thumbpiece This Victorian cream jug is supported by three impressive cast and applied paw feet with impressive lion mask sockets in junction with the body. Condition This antique cream jug is an exceptional gauge of silver for its type, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the jug are very clear. An exceptional, fine and impressive, antique William IV English sterling silver cream jug; an addition to our silver teaware collection. This exceptional antique sterling silver cream jug has an baluster shaped form onto a domed pedestal and an octagonal shaped spreading foot. The body of this silver cream jug is embellished with embossed floral ornamentation accented with scrolling leaf designs and panels of scale textures. The decoration to the body incorporates a scroll bordered and features a vacant cartouche to one side. The lower portion of the body encompassed with the contemporary engraved inscription 'Presented by the South Devon Agricultural Society to Richard Anthony for the best managed Farm under 150 acres'. The rim of this 1830s cream jug is embellished with an applied alternating shell decorated border. This fine example of antique silverware is fitted with an impressive cast antique mystical fish decorated handle ornamented with scale decoration. The domed circular portion of the foot is encircled with a band of floral and scrolling leaf decoration. The interior of this antique silver cream jug retains the original gilding. Condition This antique 1830s cream jug is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition. The applied and chased decoration is very sharp. Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the spout have wear in keeping with age and location; the maker’s mark has wear but remains legible. An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver coffee jug made by Joseph Angell I & Joseph Angell II; an addition to our antique silverware collection. This exceptional antique sterling silver coffee jug, in sterling standard, has a baluster form. The body of this Victorian coffee jug is embellished with an impressive broad band of bright cut ornamentation depicting connected Grecian figures intertwined with long flowing fabric, all on a matte background. This narrative scene is flanked with an impressive interlacing leaf decorated border to the lower portion and a scrolling Akroter decorated band to the upper portion, in addition to plain moulded borders to the rims. This impressive antique coffee jug is fitted with a flush hinged hallmarked cover encircled with a bright cut engraved undulating band; the flush indicates the high quality of the piece. The cover is surmounted by the original sterling silver finial in the formation of a flower comprised of scrolling leaf designs and textures.
