About the Item

A Tole De Lys baked enamel metal serving tray, designed by Georges Briard, shown in the 1961-1962 product catalogue. Fabulous Jade Green backing color with gold lining to the pierced handles, the center showing screen printed Colonial style images – a pewter tankard, a tea kettle, a wooden pub sign showing a gentleman in period dress, and the year 1850. Georges Briard created award-winning designs for items including glasses, trays, coffeepots and dishes in materials like glass, ceramics, metal, wood, and gold-plated serveware. His serveware was especially popular from the 1950s to ’70s. It was produced by companies including Culver, Pfaltzgraff and Medina Glass and sold at high-end department stores like Neiman Marcus and Bonwit Teller. Briard’s designs were found in the homes of the most fashionable hosts of the mid-century. Today, they are highly prized by collectors. 24.75 in. L x 14 in. W x 1 in.
