Large Serving Tray by Peter Hunt

About the Item

Traditionally embellished glass with aluminum handles large serving tray by Peter Hunt (1896-1967). After serving in WWI moved from Greenwich Village to Provincetown Mass. Enjoyed great popularity in the 1930s-1940s. Counting Helena Rubenstein as a fan and supporter.

    Drop leaf tea or serving cart from the shop of Peter Hunt . While this piece is not signed it is clearly the work of his shop . I purchased from the estate of a Peter Hunt collector along with a few other Hunt pieces . Drop leaves are 9 and 7/8" wide . Original caster wheels are functional but do have flat spots . The work of Peter Hunt is best described as folk art or naive art . Born in New Jersey lived briefly in Greenwich village after WW1 .
