1930s Sheffield Art Deco Pearlized Yellow Bakelite Flatware, Service for 12

About the Item

A service for twelve, Pearlized Bakelite handles and stainless steel flatware set, in the Art Deco style, circa early 1930s. Marked Firth-Sterling Stainless Steel. Firth-Sterling was founded in Sheffield, England in the 1890s and opened a second factory in McKeesport, Pennsylvania in 1889. This set was most likely produced for the American market. Twelve knives and twelve forks. Yellow pearlized beveled handles testing for Bakelite, fitted into stainless steel. Knives: 8.75 in L x .75 in. H Forks: 7.25 in L x .75 H The utensils are in very good vintage condition with minor wear to the bakelite, light patina to the stainless. Utensils are joined tightly into the handles, no wobbling.
