About the Item

Lamb and venison meat dish is masterfully crafted of fine Old Sheffield silver plate. This dish is crafted with the utmost intricacy in a manner one would expect from a sterling counterpart. The rich leaf motif extends from the scrolling feet and handles to the rims and even the finial to give this vessel a truly luxurious touch. The serving dish, which could be used for a variety of delectable meats, is complete with its original dome cover and a removable fenced divider well and tree liner that allowed the base to be filled with hot water to keep the entrée piping hot at the table. Sheffield plate consists of a sheet of silver fused on top of an ingot of copper, which is then flattened to a malleable sheet of metal; in this state, the two metals act as one, expanding in unison.
