About the Item

Silver and ruby red enameled Paul Revere bowl. A lovely piece with a form that is rich in history. Made in Massachusetts, the same place where the original Paul Revere serving dish was created. With a traditional silhouette and handsome silver plate with inverted red enamel on the inside. Bowls in this shape are often referred to as “Paul Revere” or “Liberty” bowls. In 1767 the Sons of Liberty commissioned fellow member (and silversmith) Paul Revere to create a piece that honored the ninety-two members of the Massachusetts House of Representatives who refused to rescind a letter sent throughout the colonies protesting the Townshends Act. From that point onwards, bowls in this shape became referred to as Paul Revere bowls in honor of his piece created for the Sons of Liberty. At the bottom, engraved Reed & Barton 102 How we would style it: Today's tabletops are the life of the party. Gone are the days of all matching silver. Bring on the treasured pieces that speak to you. Mix this beauty in with an eclectic mix of styles and patterns and create a table that will wow your guests. We think this piece in particular will be great for holiday parties. Use it on a coffee table for candy or use it on a dressing table for change or keys. Dimensions: 5.25" Diameter 2.75" Tall
