About the Item

1819 imposing French sterling silver and Baccarat crystal bottles condiment set. For Paris 1819-1838, "vieillard", Michel-Ange. 1st titre mark for 950/1000 French sterling silver guarantee. Extremely rare and imposing antique French sterling silver and crystal condiment set Charles X, Restauration period. No monograms. The set is including an oil and vinegar cruet set with two Baccarat crystal bottles and two double open salt/pepper cellars caddy. The crystal bottles and liners are all removal, beautifully hand cut. The bottles are unmarked, made prior to the acid-etched mark first used by the firm in 1936. This model is illustrated in the 1840 Baccarat catalog but was created in the early 19th century, a classic Baccarat! With more than two hundred years of age, this set looks to have hardly been used and it is in an exceptional condition. Baccarat: The French luxury brand Baccarat is considered the most famous glass-works in the world. Founded in 1764 by decree of King Louis XV, the crystal symbol of "Art de vivre à la française", has attracted over the centuries great personalities like Louis XVIII, Tsar Nicolas II, the Maharajas or Prince Rainier. The pieces - stemware, chandeliers, candlesticks, vases, bottles of perfume or jewelry - are created for 250 years by glassblowers, cutters, engravers and gilders, an elite consisting especially of a Master of Art and the 22 best workers of France. Very impressive dimensions: 13"8 (35 cm) Height of the cruet set. 9"6 x 5"3 (24.5 cm x 13.5 cm) dimensions of the cruet stand. 11"5 (29.2 cm) oil and vinegar bottles. 9"3 (23.5 cm) height of the double open salt cellars. 9"6 x 5"3 (24.5 cm x 13.5 cm) dimensions of the double open salt cellars. Total weight: 3026 grams. The condition is very good for this set. Micro-scratches from normal use. No dents, damage or repairs to the sterling silver stands. The crystal bottles are intact, just a few rubbings at the location of the stopper and towards the bottom of the bottles, nothing serious. The four liners are intact, no deposit, one is slightly different model, this is not visible when the liners are installed in the stands. A master silversmith made a complete cleaning and polishing.
