An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver and mother of pearl handled fruit/dessert service for six persons - boxed; an addition to our silver flatware collection. This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver and mother of pearl fruit/dessert service for six persons consists of six fruit knives and six fruit forks. The impressive sabre style knife blades have a broad incurved shaped form, and the forks have three tines with a rounded, baluster shaped shaft. The anterior surface of each knife blade is embellished with exceptional bright cut engraved scrolling leaf and foliate decoration, accented with a plain paralleling border to one side; the posterior surface is plain and unembellished. Each piece of this fruit cutlery set is fitted with the original and impressive pistol grip mother of pearl handles. The handles are each ornamented with paralleling borders to the shaped rims. The blade of the knife and the drop of the fork have an incurved shaped form. The anterior of the knife is embellished with a bright cut engraved band of leaf ornamentation paralleling the shaped side of the blade, accented with a suspended floral festoon and fabric swag designs. The drop of the fork is ornamented with further bright cut engraved floral festoon designs extending from a wrigglework decorated border to the lower portion of the four tines.
