About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique German silver coffee pot; an addition to our 18th century silver teaware collection. This exceptional antique German silver coffee pot has a circular rounded form onto a circular pedestal foot. The surface of this 18th century coffee pot is encompassed with bands of chased interlacing and leaf ornamentation to the upper portion of the body. The waisted portion of the body is flanked with bead decorated borders; the applied, large bead ornamentation to the upper rim has a textured background. This antique coffee pot retains the original push fit cover accented with chased decoration and surmounted with the original and impressive cast silver tiered finial. This exceptional German silver coffee pot is fitted with a plain carved stained wood C scroll handle, featuring a plain scrolling thumbpiece, all secured to tooled decorated silver sockets. This exceptional example of antique silverware has an impressive cast silver swan necked spout, ornamented with a lobed fluted decoration below a moulded girdle. The upper portion of the pedestal is encircled with further bead decoration. The circular domed foot is encompassed with chased segmented circular motifs, all on a textured background. The hallmarks struck to the underside of the coffee pot include: Assay mark: F (Augsburg, 1743) Maker's mark: untraced. Condition This antique German silver coffee pot is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The chased and cast decoration is all very sharp. The 18th century German hallmarks struck to the underside of the coffee pot are all very clear.
