1900s Antique Chinese Export Silver Box

About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Chinese export silver box; an addition to our range of silver boxes and cases This exceptional antique Chinese Silver box has a rectangular form onto four bracket style feet. The surface of the body is embellished with impressive embossed and chased bamboo stalk decoration, all on a matte background. This organic decoration is flanked with bands of rope twist decoration and applied moulded borders. This antique box is fitted with a solid silver hinged cover, featuring further applied moulded decoration to the rim. The plateau of the cover is embellished with an exceptional bordered panel depicting further embossed and chased bamboo stalk designs in addition to oriental floral and foliate decoration, all on a matte background. This silver box is supported with four impressive bracket style feet, ornamented with a simplified foliate design. The interior of this impressive box retains the original gilding. The hallmarks struck to the underside of this fine box include: Silver quality/purity mark: 90 (900/1000) Maker's mark: LH (Luen Hing*) Character mark: Untraced * Luen Hing was a retail silversmith, selling luxury goods with an attention towards silver pieces which complimented the growth of the middle class Chinese community. Condition This Chinese silver box is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The embossed and chased decoration is very sharp. The Chinese hallmarks mark to the underside of the box are all very clear.     An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Chinese Export Silver bowl; an addition to our Asian silverware collection. This exceptional Chinese Export Silver bowl has a plain circular form onto a plain circular swept, spreading foot. The body of this antique Asian silver bowl is embellished with chased traditional oriental chrysanthemum floral and foliate designs, all on a matte background. The decoration to the body incorporates a large shield shaped vacant cartouche to one side. The upper portion of this impressive bowl is encircled with a plain applied moulded border to the incurved shaped rim. This exceptional antique Austro-Hungarian silver spice box has been modelled in the form of a tower. The cuboid shaped spice box is ornamented with exceptional silver filigree work within a plain arched frame. This impressive vessel is fitted with a hinged door embellished with contemporary engraved initials. The upper portion of this impressive antique silver spice tower is embellished with four articulating flag designs encompassing a tapering paneled chute. The tower's chute is ornamented with further filigree and rope twist decoration and terminating with a scalloped knop to an undulating guidon shaped flag. The spice compartment surmounts a plain wirework style pedestal, accented with a further scalloped knop.
