About the Item

Museum quality -- Stunning late ART NOUVEAU antique serving plate, wall hanging, or table decor piece handcrafted from 830s solid silver. Designed around the 1910s by renowned Norwegian designer Gunnar Tandberg (1894–1954) for N.M. Thune, this piece features a hammered surface with intricate dragon-style, stylized plant designs, and a "Fox & Rooster" motif. Stamped: THUNE 830s. Weight ca. 560 gram / 0.56 kg. In 1910, Gunnar Tandberg (1894-1954) began working as a draftsman and engraver at N.M. Thune. His earliest work was characterized by the bulging forms of neo-Baroque, but in the 1920s the rectilinear forms of neo-classicism became more dominant. Tandberg continued as a permanent employee of Thune until 1928 and as a freelancer until 1936.
