20th Century Gio Ponti attr. Embossed Silver Tray for Nino Ferrari, 30s

About the Item

Nino Ferrari was born in Canneto sull'Oglio and in the 20s moved to Milan where he attended courses at the Brera Academy. All pieces bear the autograph signature of the author, and in no known case does the name of the person who made the design appear. Therefore, it will never be possible to discriminate with certainty Gio Ponti's contribution to Nino Ferrari's work in the period from 1936 to 1952, but the architect's influence is evident, and it can be assumed that the pieces published by "Casa e giardino" and those published in "Domus" or "Stile" had received his approval. There are objects published as edited by "Casa e giardino" and designed by Ponti that bear the signature of Nino Ferrari alone. This silver tray (800 - as reported and engraved on the back) can be dated to the late 30s, because of its similarity and relevancy to other objects made in those years with the techniques of embossing and chiseling and the distinctly Pontian iconography. It, moreover, is signed by Nino Ferrari himself as shown in photos. Good condition, fully original.
