20th Century Sterling Silver Box George III° Style

About the Item

Handmade George III style oblong box in sterling silver. On the body of the box typical lines with fluted. The lid has the same design but embossed. The handle has a simple cast knob. The inside of the box has been embellished with a 24-karat gold plating. Italian silverware, already with a centuries-old tradition, had a great development in the twentieth century and produced pieces of the highest quality that the whole world envies. Italian craftsmanship had a kind of new Renaissance after the war. A great many high-quality silverware was born where exceptional pieces were produced that now decorate the most prestigious houses. All the boxes were made entirely by hand by Cesani Virginio, Milan, Italy

The surface of this Edwardian jewelry box is plain and embellished with two applied sterling silver balls to the anterior convex arched surface, replicating the details of the draw handles. The original hallmarked hinged cover is plain and parallels the shape of the body, opening to reveal the original segmented velvet interior.
