Antique 9k gold and Amber cheroot holder with sterling silver case

About the Item

A stylish antique sterling silver cheroot holder case and 9ct gold and amber cheroot holder. The cheroot holder is made from rich amber with a 9ct gold collar, fully hallmarked. The cheroot holder fits inside the sterling silver case so it can be easily transported, usually attached to an Albert chain. The silver case has an attached jump ring, it is fully hallmarked for sterling silver, Birmingham assay office 1901. It has a monogram to the front in fancy script. Condition: Fair used condition overall, signs of use and wear commensurate with age, cheroot holder is good with some signs of use, the case has some wear with light surface scratches and a few tiny dings.     An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Elizabeth II English sterling silver cheroot case made by Boodle & Dunthorne; an addition to the ornamental silverware collection. This exceptional vintage Elizabeth II sterling silver cheroot case has an octagonal prism form. The surface of this vintage silver box is ornamented with impressive panels of engine turned decoration. Either end of the box is plain and unembellished. This vintage case retains the original sprung hinged hallmarked cover, with opens to reveal two gilded compartments. The interior of the cover retains the original gilding. By virtue of its size this versatile box could be used for a multitude of functions, including holding pencils/pens. Condition This vintage silver cheroot case is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The engine turned decoration is very sharp. Full hallmarks struck to the interior of the box and part hallmark to the interior of the cover are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.
