Vintage Britannia silver and 9k gold wine coaster, bottle stand
About the Item
A very fine vintage Britannia silver wine or bottle coaster.
Made from 958 silver with a hardwood base set with a 9ct yellow gold roundel to the centre.
The base is covered with a green felt to protect the surface it stands on.
It is a stylish and luxury piece for the home, perfect for displaying your favourite vintage wines.
The coaster is fully hallmarked for 958 silver or Britannia silver, this finesse was created in the 1960s to prevent British coins being melted down for silver plate.
Also fully hallmarked for 9ct gold, Sheffield assay office, 2003.
It is an unusual example with the 9ct gold roundel and in Britannia silver, possibly a custom made piece.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, light surface wear, one small ding near the seam, a little liquid staining to the wood.
