About

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Edwardian English sterling silver gilt three piece condiment/cruet set - boxed; an addition to our dining silverware collection. This exceptional antique Edwardian English sterling silver condiment set consists of a mustard pot and two condiment shakers. Each piece has a cylindrical urn shaped form to a circular pedestal foot and square base. The surface of each component is encircled with an impressive cast and applied bud festoon design, suspended from alternating figural medallions and impressive ram's head motifs. The body of each piece is further encompassed with impressive water leaf designs to the lower portion, in junction with the plain pedestal. The exceptional mustard pot is fitted with the original domed hinged cover, embellished with a foliate vine decorated border. The mustard pot opens to reveal a clear glass liner. These condiment shakers each retain the original domed hallmarked push fit cover ornamented with pierced foliate decoration, reflecting that to the mustard pot. Each cover is surmounted with an impressive cast and applied overlapping leaf design to an exceptional bud style finial. The circular foot of each piece is embellished with a cast and applied simplified floral head design to the cardinal points. The square bases are each embellished with matte textured panels to the collet style sides, and are supported by four impressive cast bud style feet. This antique condiment set is accompanied by the original hallmarked English sterling silver mustard spoon bearing further festoon decoration and incorporating and oval cartouche to the terminal. The surface of each piece retains the original gilding. This antique silver condiment set is fitted to the original and very impressive hinged leatherette box with satin and velvet lined interior and secures with a push fit catch. The interior of the box bears the retailer's mark 'Percy Webster, 37 GT Portland St, London, W.1'. This exceptional condiment set is the finest of its type you could hope to acquire. Condition This antique silver condiment set is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and exceptional condition. There is some slight wear to the gilding on the high spots of the mustard pot, in keeping with age. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each piece and reverse of the spoon, in addition to the part hallmarks to the covers are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these pieces of a silver condiment set for dining table.
