Antique George V Sterling Silver Condiment Set

About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive, antique George V English sterling silver six piece condiment/cruet set - boxed; an addition to our Chester silverware collection. This exceptional antique George V six piece sterling silver condiment set consists of two salts, two pepper pots and two mustard pots. The pieces of this fine antique condiment set have a classic and desirable octagonal panelled form to a swept foot. The surface of each piece is plain and embellished with a contemporary bright cut engraved initial 'W'. The upper rim of each piece is ornamented with an applied moulded border. The mustard pot is fitted with an angular sterling silver handle with a plain upper plateau. The mustard pot retains the original hinged hallmarked plain domed cover surmounted with a lobed thumbpiece. The pepper pots are fitted with domed push fit covers with pierced 'pepper' holes and are surmounted with urn style finials. Each mustard pot and salt are fitted with the original removable blue glass liner. The set is presented with plain mustard and salt spoons; these spoons have been crafted in the same year as the service by the silversmiths S Blanckensee & Son Ltd. This antique sterling silver 6 piece condiment set with spoons is fitted to the original hinged leatherette box with satin and velvet lined interior and secures with two hinged catches. Condition The pieces of this antique boxed silver condiment set are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and are in exceptional condition. The original fitted box is in presentation condition. Full hallmarks struck to the underside of each piece, in addition to part hallmarks to each cover are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver. An exceptional, fine and impressive vintage Elizabeth II English sterling silver two piece condiment set in the Stuart Devlin style; part of our ornamental dining silverware This vintage Elizabeth II sterling silver condiment set consists of a pepper pot and a salt with the original spoon. The salt and pepper pot have a rounded cylindrical form, with a tapering upper portion to the pepper. The sterling silver upper portion of each piece is plain and unembellished. The lower portion of the salt and hallmarked push fit cover of the pepper pot is encompassed with a cast and applied shaped band of silver gilt textured decoration; this ornamentation reflects the iconic style of the renowned London silversmith Stuart Devlin.
