About
An exceptional, fine unusual and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver inkwell in the form of a water lily; an addition to our ornamental silverware collection.
This exceptional antique Victorian cast sterling silver inkwell has been realistically modelled in a naturalistic water lily shaped form.
The body of this impressive antique silver inkwell is embellished with cast ornamentation replicating the features of the lily pad leaves, accented with an applied lizard to one side.
The circular well is further ornamented with a subtle water texture in addition to a protruding cast silver lily bud shaped pen receiver.
The central lily flower is encompassed with splayed petals and incorporates a hallmarked push fit cover surmounted with a finial replicating the details of the flowers stamen.
This antique inkwell retains the original removable glass ink pot.
Either end of this impressive example of Victorian silverware is fitted with a plain rounded handle.
The impressive inkwell was crafted by the renowned London silversmith George Lambert of Lambert & Co and bears the retailer's mark 'Lambert, Coventry St, London' to the rim of the circular foot.
The inkwell is presented with an associate sterling silver quill, bearing the maker's name S. Mordan & Co.
