Shaped as a scalloped shell, the dish is richly decorated with repoussée grapevine and foliate motifs, featuring a tall cast handle formed as entwined vines and grapes, designed to support a pair of accompanying grape scissors. Both the dish and handle are clearly hallmarked with: Maker’s mark: HA for Henry Atkins Lion passant: Sterling silver Crown: Sheffield Assay Office Date letter ‘h’: 1893 The matched grape scissors fit perfectly within the handle’s support. The blades are steel, and the handles are silver. These exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver dish rings have a circular waisted form. The sterling silver body of each dish is embellished with impressive embossed and pierced scrolling foliate and floral decoration. The posterior surface of each piece is ornamented with an embossed scene depicting a man in period attire holding a staff; it can be determined this figure is a shepherd.
