About the Item
Art Nouveau - Art & craft sterling silver enamel photograph frame - William Hutton & Sons 1903.
William Hutton & Sons silver and enamel square photo frame, the design attributed to Kate Allen.
The frame is in very good condition with original unrestored enamels in excellent antique condition, with minute losses to the odd enamel edge only visible under magnification. The enamels are a good classic blue green colour, typical for Hutton.
Kate Allen was Hutton’s other leading designer c 1898-1904, who worked alongside the better known Kate Harris, based at Hutton’s London studio. Like Harris, Allen her own distinctive arts and crafts style.
