Art Nouveau Sterling Silver Fruit Basket by Mauser Mft. Co., circa 1900s

About the Item

Our large reticulated fruit basket by Mauser Mfg. Co. of New York, circa 1900s, is distinguished by its large size and finely sculpted handle and rim decorated with grapevine motifs. Underside with the maker's mark, style number and STERLING. 47.5 toz, 1477 g. Rim engraved with monogram. The firm was founded in 1887 and moved from Massachusetts to New York City in the 1890s. By 1904 they were operating a studio and boutique on Fifth Avenue at 31st Street which closed in 1912 just prior to merging with two other firms.
