Elkington & Co Art Nouveau Large Silver Fruit Bowl
About the Item
A very unusual and stunning English Art Nouveau large silver fruit bowl by renowned silversmiths Elkington & Co and made in Sheffield in 1909. The heavily made bowl is of deep round shape with a wide top rim narrowing down to the flat base. The bowl stands suspended on four square formed legs tapering to narrow edge feet with pierced stepped openings in an Oriental style. Made in a thick gauge silver the bowl weighs 1.035kg and has makers marks for Elkington Co and silver assay marks for Sheffield 1909. A wonderful, impressive and unusual quality bowl.
Provenance: acquired in the British Art Market.
In good condition with light age wear.
