About the Item
Salt cellar designed by Atkin Brothers Co.
An Edwardian neoclassical salt cellar with a spoon created in the city of Sheffield England by the Atkin Brothers, back in the 1912. Crafted in solid .925/.999 sterling silver with high polished finish and fitted with three legs on the base.
Weight: 44.6 Grams, (28.59 Dwt).
Measurements: 52 mm by 35 mm (2.05 x 1.38 Inches).
Hallmarks: Stamped with British marks, for the city of Sheffield, the gothic letter U for the production year of 1912 and the maker's mark inside a rectangular cartouche, "HA".
Atkin Brothers traces his origin to Thomas Law, a silversmith active in Sheffield from c. 1750 to 1775. He was one of the only two firms combining the trades of cutlers and general silversmiths. The business was continued by his sons John and William, and later by Joseph Law. In 1824 was entered the mark of Jos. Law, Jn Oxley & Henry Atkin and in 1829 Henry Atkin and John Oxley, trading as Atkin, Oxley & Co, succeeded to the original firm. They dissolve their partnership c. 1840. Henry Atkin continued the trade as Henry Atkin & Co at 32 Howard Street, Sheffield. He died in 1853, and his sons Harry Wright Atkin, Edward Thomas Atkin and Frank Shaw Atkin continued the trade under the style Atkin Brothers in their Truro Works, Matilda Street, Sheffield. The firm opened offices in London, managed by Harry Wright Atkin, and in 1925 became a limited liability company as Atkin Brothers (Silversmiths) Ltd. Atkin Brothers manufactured a wide range of electroplate, Britannia Metal, silver and plated cutlery supplied to Thornhill & Co - London, Barraclough & Sons - Leeds, Ollivant & Botsford - Manchester, James Crichton & Co - Edinburgh, Hall & co - Manchester, Fairfax & Roberts - Sydney and many other firms in the United Kingdom and in the Colonies. The company was purchased by Thomas Bradbury & Sons in 1940 and then acquired by C.J. Vander of London in 1958.
Collateral: It is accompanied by a presentation velvet pouch.
Condition: The overall condition of this piece is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the sterling. This salt cellar has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.

Beautiful pair of salt and pepper shakers, created in Baltimore by The Schofield Company, back in the 1905. This pair is from the iconic pattern named Baltimore Rose and was carefully crafted in the art nouveau style with a repousse of floral motifs in solid .925/.999 sterling silver. The Memphis style
Was emerged in 1981, when the Italian designer and architect Ettore Sottsass founded a group of artists and designers called Memphis. Bob Dylan’s song 'Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again' was playing on repeat during the group’s first meeting, which led to the group being named 'Memphis'. These exceptional antique Edwardian sterling silver asparagus server tongs have a rectangular rounded shaped form.
