Dominick & Haff 1898 Vermeil Gilt Sterling Silver Vase with Glass Liner

About the Item

Dominick & Haff vermeil (gilt-sterling silver) vase from 1898 in pattern number 326A, with a richly adorned body showcasing elaborate, slightly raised, scroll-like motifs. It comes with a removable, red glass liner, measures 12 1/2'' in height (14 1/8'' with the liner) by 4'' in diameter at the top, weighs 11 troy ounces, and bears hallmarks as shown. Dominick & Haff was an American silver manufacturer based in New York City. It was co-founded by Henry Blanchard Dominick and Leroy B. Haff in 1872, incorporated in 1889, and it was sold to Reed & Barton in 1928. The firm designed pots, mugs, centerpieces, spoons, tea sets and kettles. Examples can be seen at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum, Cooper Hewitt, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and the Rhode Island School of Design Museum. We hand polish all items before shipping them out, but if there is interest for a professional polishing and/or engraving removal, we can take care of that for an additional charge and with delayed shipping.
