A Dutch large silver "brij" spoon by C.J. Begeer Utrecht, 1909
A large Dutch silver "brij" spoon in "Hollands glad" (Dutch smooth, translated) pattern
Dutch silver hall marks of the office head (Minerva) with letter B of Utrecht, standing lion 1 for 925/1000 purity of silver, Year letter Z for 1909 and the master sign of C.J. Begeer, Kon. Utrecht factory 1868-1920.
This kind of spoon was also used as a serving spoon for stew and other stews, or a very dignified and therefore very expensive dish such as rice pudding, especially in wealthy circles.
The spoon measures 26 cm long, 5,5 cm wide and the depth is 3,5 cm.
